What is Avoiding a Conversation?

Avoiding a conversation is when an individual actively avoids a conversation that can be reasonably expected or required. For example, if a manager terminates an employee that has many years with a company without any explanation or direct communication. Individuals may avoid conversations that they anticipate to be stressful or emotional. It is also common to avoid conversations due to passive-aggressive hostility.
